ACHIEVEMENT GAP

1. What do you think causes the acheivement gap?
I think what causes it is the way the parents don't help their children with their education. Sometimes its because the parent doesnt speak english.

2. What can students do to close the gap?(3)
a. put their part in school by paying more attention in class.
b. Doing their homework whenever teachers leave homework.
c. If the student doesnt understand something to ask the teacher for some help.

3. What can parents do?(3)
a. they can always talk to the teachers for advice on how to help their kids.
b. asking their kids if they need help.
c. teach the kids how to count or say the abc's when they are young.

4. What can teachers/schools do?(3)
a. teachers can always look and keep track of the students grades.
b. schools can have some tuturing classes after school/lunch/break,etc.
c. teachers can always ask the students if they need any help.

1. What do you think Mr. Hayden?
I think he was a very outspoken person. He tells his story very well. He help the black people to do well and not to be a bad person.

2. Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a civil rights leader. Do you see him as one? Why or why not?
I do see him as a civil rights leader because he help out even though he was white. He didnt care that he was white he just wanted to do good.

3. Tom Hayden feels that leaders are not as important as the hundreds or thousands of people behind them. What does he mean by that?
Leaders need support from their people. They their help to back them up when they need it.
